A Bright Wedding in Surrey

Colour and texture really does just give such an instant wow factor, and the trend for bright wedding flowers doesn’t seem to be disappearing any time soon. You can see exactly why it’s proving so popular just by looking at these rainbow florals we created at High Billinghurst Barn last September for the gorgeous Clare and Simon, captured perfectly by zing loving photographer Jordana Marston.

I first spoke to Clare back in April 2022 via Zoom, and we instantly clicked. I absolutely LOVED that she wanted to embrace colour. She really was the dream to work with, allowing me to really flex my creativity, trusting my ideas, and allowing me to go all out with the brief.

High Billinghurst Farm

The couple had both fallen in love with High Billinghurst Farm, in the village of Dunsfold, Surrey. The venue itself is tucked away up a wild flower lined winding lane, nestled amongst 65 acres of beautiful English countryside. It’s the perfect mix of old meets new, with the old section of the barn being sympathetically restored to tie in with the newer elements of the wedding breakfast barn. Being just 15 minutes away from my studio, it’s one of my favourite local venues.

The wedding ceremony was held at Dunsfold church in the village.

Colour!

The vibrant sunset palette really suited the warm, balmy feel of an Indian Summer perfectly. From the fruit on the tables, the gold candlesticks, tealights, the napkins and cutlery, to the tequila hand painted table names, place cards and hand dyed silk ribbons for the bouquets, it all just worked so beautifuly together, creating such a fun and relaxed party vibe; Exactly what the couple wanted.

Trust Your Floral Designer

Clare and Simon 100% put their trust in me to help pull all their ideas together, and it’s these weddings where I am given a skeleton brief to pad out which I love the most. Even after 19 years of running my own wedding flower business I get that buzz and those butterflies of seeing new ideas and concepts come together.

My biggest piece of advice when trying to recreate this sort of look, or any look, is to 100% put your trust in your floral designer. You have hopefully chosen your florist because you LOVE their work and floral style, and have clicked with them, so once you have given them your brief and have agreed a budget, let them get on with what they do best and create that magic for you. They will imagine up ideas you will never of dreamt up, and I promise that you will get a far better result by giving them free reign. Get them involved with choosing the linen, glassware and any table props and accessories too, and I promise you won’t be disappointed

Above all have fun with whichever colourscheme and vibe you choose for your day. Allow it to represent you as a couple, and you can’t go wrong.

Thank you so much to Clare and Simon for choosing me as their florist, and allowing me to run away with their ideas.

A huge thank you also to the fabulous suppliers who made it all happen
